Swedish Massage: The basis of most other Western massage. Using five basic strokes: Effleurage, Petrissage, Vibration, Friction, and Tapotment.  All are designed to do different things.  From warm up your tissue, to using compression and friction in order to break up knots and adhesions, due to tension and stress.

Deep Tissue Massage: We have heard that Deep Tissue massage is painful, so that means it's good for us.  That is true and not true. Deep tissue is a more specific style of massage, best used for people with chronic injuries or stress.  Used most often in a specific area of the body. And included usually are stretches and certain muscles may be tested for improvement. Talk to your therapist about your specific injuries and/or surgeries. This will help you both determine your course of action.

Sports Massage: relieves aches and pains associated with your favorite sport or athletic event. From weekend warrior to marathoners.  It is active between massage therapist and client. Stretching, jostling and specific work helps bring your body back to a healthy condition. 

Prenatal Massage: is a pregnant woman's life saver.  It helps relieve low back pain, sciatica, swollen limbs. It increases sleep and reduces stress. We at massage-NYC, only work on women after the first trimester, but can work up to the day before they are due.  Please make sure you check with your doctor about any questions you may have about massage therapy.
